Play Poker Against Bots on Android: What the Play Store Actually Offers
The Play Store has free apps for playing poker against computer opponents on your phone. Seven of the 21 listings I opened on 14 October 2026 say outright that you play against AI or bots, most of them offline. They all use play chips. Nothing in them is a bot that plays real money for you, which is the other meaning of the phrase and the subject of the rest of this site.
What I checked
I searched Google Play (US, English, no account) for six phrases: "poker vs bots", "play poker against bots", "poker with bots", "poker against computer", "offline poker" and "heads up poker offline". The first five returned 30 apps each and the sixth returned 8, which came to 63 distinct apps. I opened 21 of those listings: every app that appeared under several queries plus the ones whose name said offline, AI, trainer or heads-up. For each I read the store page, meaning the title, the description, the install bracket, rating, the ads and in-app purchase badges, and the last update date. I installed nothing, so everything below is what the listing says, not how the game plays.
A listing is the publisher's own claim. "Smart AI" in a description tells me what they want me to believe, and I have no measurement of playing strength for any of them.
Sorting the 21 by what the description promises about the opponent
| Group | Apps | What the listing says |
|---|---|---|
| Names AI, computer or bot opponents | 7 | Poker Offline (Zmist Games), Felted, PokerAlfie, Texas Holdem Poker Offline, Offsuit, HeadsupPoker, Poker Skill |
| Offline mode, opponent type not described | 1 | Poker Offline: Texas Holdem (TeeHeeTiger): "You don't need internet to play card games" |
| Trainer or simulator | 1 | Poker Trainer: practice hands with simple GTO-based strategies, no table opponents promised |
| Online tables with other people, no mention of AI or bots | 11 | Zynga Poker, WSOP Poker, Governor of Poker, Mega Hit Poker, Poker Face, Poker Friends, Poker Brawl, Pokerheads, PokerBROS, Texas Holdem Poker Legends, Poker Texas Holdem Live Pro |
| Online tables, says "no bots" | 1 | Poker Championship: "no bots, no house players, no dealing manipulation" |
The searches themselves mix two kinds of results. Phrases like "poker with bots" return the online social-casino games too, because the engine matches on "poker". A bot-free online game still ranks for "poker vs bots", which is why a reader who wants an AI opponent has to read the description, not the title.

Across all 21 listings, 12 carry the "Contains ads" badge and 18 carry "In-app purchases". In the nine above, six have ads and eight have purchases. So "free to play against a bot" means free to download, with a shop attached in nearly every case.
Three patterns in the listings
- Installs are concentrated. Two apps named Poker Offline hold 15M+ of the installs in this group, and the remaining seven share well under a million. The ones that pitch strong AI or a coach sit in the thousands.
- Several look abandoned. As of 14 October 2026 Texas Holdem Poker Offline was last updated in December 2024, PokerAlfie in July 2025 and Offsuit in September 2025. An old build can still run, but an app that has not been touched for a year is not getting fixes for new Android versions.
- Listings contradict their own badge. PokerAlfie's description opens with "WITHOUT ADS", while the store page shows "Contains ads". I did not install it, so I cannot say which is right on a given screen. If ad-free play matters to you, trust the badge and Data safety section, not the first line of the description.
Offline against bots vs online with a mix of bots
Texas Holdem Poker Offline lists 6 hold'em tables and 3 sit-and-go tables played with bots without Wi-Fi, then adds that its online mode lets you "join common tables with real players or mix it up with bots". Other online listings I read say nothing either way.
If a game fills empty seats with computer players online, the people who asked "why am I always losing to the same player" have a reasonable question. The only listing in my set that addresses this in the opposite direction is Poker Championship, which says "no bots, no house players". That is a promise made in a store description, and I have no way from here to check it. "No bots" and "mix it up with bots" deserve the same caution. Both are publisher statements; neither is evidence.
What a bot is in these games
In every app above, the bot is the opponent. It takes a seat at the table, and the game program decides its actions, either on your phone (offline) or on the publisher's server. You are the player, and you press the buttons. The chips have no cash value: Offsuit, Poker Offline (Zmist) and Felted each state in the description that there is no real-money gambling, and Felted adds that its chips cannot be cashed out and that offline hands use a cryptographically secure shuffle. I read those lines in the listings, and I have not audited anything.
The meaning this site is about is the reverse. There, a program sits next to you at a real-money table, reads the same cards you do and picks your action. That tool does not belong in the Play Store, which is why the results for it on the reality page turned out to be debunks, play-money games and sideloaded installers. If you landed here by searching for something that plays for you, the download-risks page shows what Google Play returns for "poker bot download": 58 apps, none of them a real-money bot.
In a third group, Zynga Poker and similar apps use play chips against real people, and the confusion around them is covered in the Zynga page. A friends' game inside a chat server is a different thing again, as described in the Discord comparison. Trainers and solvers that use "poker AI" in their names are a fourth group, listed on the poker AI apps page.
How to pick one without installing five
- Decide whether you need offline. If you play on trains or in places with weak signal, read for the word "offline" in the first lines, not in the title. Both Poker Offline apps and Felted say it clearly, and PokerAlfie builds its pitch around it.
- Check the last update. Play shows it under "About this app". Anything older than a year deserves a look at recent reviews first.
- Read Data safety before you accept permissions. A card game against a computer has no reason to ask for accessibility access, SMS or overlay permissions. If one does, close the page. That is the same pattern as the installers on the APK scam page.
- Match the app to the goal. To practise heads-up, an app aimed at it, like HeadsupPoker (150 big blinds, tournament-style structure per its description), fits better than a casino game with a heads-up table. To learn, a coach feature, which Felted, Poker Skill and PokerAlfie all advertise, helps more than any extra table.
- Do not use bots to calibrate stakes. PokerAlfie's own description says it "isn't unbeatable" and suggests playing it before real money. Even the publisher separates the practice opponent from a live game. Beating a script on play chips tells you little about live players, who adjust and bluff for different reasons.
What this page cannot tell you
I did not play a hand in any of them. Playing strength, how often the bots fold to pressure, and whether the shuffle is fair are all unmeasured here. Install brackets are Google's rounded ranges, ratings are from whoever chose to leave one, and the ads and purchases badges are the developer's declaration to Play. The sample is 21 of 63 apps, picked by me, so the group sizes are a description of that sample and not of the whole store. The store also changes every week, and I will date any later re-run.
Questions people ask
Can I play poker against bots on Android for free? Yes. All nine apps in the table above are free to download, and most show ads or sell chips inside the game. Felted, Poker Skill and Poker Trainer do not carry the ads badge.
Is there an offline poker app with bots? Several say so. Of my 21, five describe offline play: both Poker Offline apps, Texas Holdem Poker Offline, PokerAlfie and Felted, and Poker Trainer also mentions offline practice.
Does playing against bots on my phone count as cheating? No. You are the player and the program is the opponent. The thing rooms ban is software that helps one player at a real-money table, as covered on the phone farms page.
Do online poker apps use bots? One listing in my set says it mixes bots into online tables, and another says it does not. I cannot verify either, and the rest say nothing.
